Volkswagen India has confirmed that the all-new Volkswagen Passat and Tiguan models to be launched in this year in the Indian market. The Tiguan to be introduced in the coming month of May 2017, whereas the VW Passat is expected to enter the passenger vehicle market in July 2017. There is no official confirmation about the Passat launch but, it will be assembled at the company’s Chakan plant along with the Tiguan.

Both cars, Tiguan and Passat will be received the VW group’s MQB platform for the Indian market. The VW Passat will enter the Indian market in its latest B8 avatar with the measurements of 4,767mm length, 1832mm width and 1456mm height. It comes with the wheelbase of 2,677mm and single engine that will be the four-cylinder 2.0-litre TDI turbo diesel.

The Passat GTE petrol hybrid to be featured with the combination of 115bhp electric motor and 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine rated at 154bhp of power. As per the information, the VW Passat will also get the sportier version with the 2.0-litre 177hp diesel engine for the Indian market.

To expand the network as well as become as one of the strong players in the passenger market, Volkswagen India is introducing all-new models with different platforms. The upcoming cars will be expensive compared to the existing cars and priced Rs. 30 to 35 lakhs on the Tiguan and Rs. 32 to 34 lakhs on the Passat.

Volkswagen is eagerly planning to bring the Golf GTI models to India after the launch of the Polo GTI in the last month.  The Volkswagen Golf GTI is the big brother of the Polo GTI, which is the performance based version of the existing Polo. To increase the product range as well as meet the Indian high market standards, the German maker has decided to introduce the Golf GTI in the country.

In the global market, Volkswagen has released more GTIs in the country, but the company is now looking for the Golf GTI only for the Indian market. One of the Golf models will most probably launch in 2018 or 2019. One more point noticed by the company, that is, whether the Golf will have a great response in the market or not. In fact, the feature-rich and global-standard cars meet utmost level in the country than the company’s expectations. Expecting that, the GTI will reach the maximum levels.

The Golf is the most important product of the German car manufacturer and one of the best selling cars in the worldwide. There is no idea which version will come to India, however the upcoming model will definitely sit above the Indian range Volkswagen Polo and GTi models. Coming to the price, the Golf GTI will be too expensive for the standard Indian customers, even though the company will bring it for a better proposition.

The new Volkswagen Golf GTI is designed based on the updated MQB structure and powered by the 2.0-litre EA 288 TSI turbocharged petrol engine. The engine is rated at 230hp of power and mated to the 7-speed DSG transmission.

Before the Golf GTI, Volkswagen has planning to introduce entry-level Volkswagen Tiguan in the SUV segment, which will launch in India in the next year. The Tiguan is the first SUV from the VW group and to be developed based on the new MQB. It will cost around Rs. 30lakhs in the PV market and compete the existing SUVs.

The current Passat is offered by the similar kind of bi-turbocharged engine, which is a two-stage turbocharger and featured the high-performance cylinder. With the bi-turbo engine and the four-wheel drive system, the Tiguan new version is capable of hitting the 0 to 100kmph of acceleration speed in around 6.5 seconds.

Volkswagen India is still postponing the launch of VW Tiguan, but the UK market has already introduced the Tiguan top versions SEL or R-Line with the powerful engine.  The SEL variants offered with the 8-inch color touch-screen infotainment system, navigation support, adaptive cruise control, as well. Some of the reports stated that the VW Tiguan SUV will be manufactured at the company’s Puebla plant in Mexico. Volkswagen Tiguan receives the MQB platform to increase its appearance as well as the performance than the previous one. The U.S-specific Tiguan LWB will measure 4,699 mm (185 inches) in length, 1,838mm (72.4 inches) of width and 1,633 (64.3 inches) of height. The much-awaited Indian model, Volkswagen Tiguan has launched in the UK market with the opening price of £22,510, equal to Rs. 20.44 lakh. The Tiguan is the entry-level SUV in the Indian market and likely to be designed based on the new MQB platform. Just a few days back, the India-bound Volkswagen SUV has attended the Euro NCAP crash test and received 5- star rating in terms of safety. The carmaker has showcased this SUV at the 2015 international Frankfort motor show for the first time. After, the same model has been made its introduction in the Indian market at the Delhi Motor Show (2016 Auto Expo) in February 2016.

The upcoming Volkswagen SUV will be increased its length by 60mm, width by 30mm, wheelbase by 77mm to 2681mm than its previous model. While, the height of the new-gen Tiguan is reduced by 33mm.
