After the rumours about the launch of the Maruti Ignis has postponed to the next year, Maruti Suzuki has clarified that the product to be launched as per our first schedule. The company never delayed the scheduled launch and the Ignis will come to India in this Diwali season. The Ignis small crossover has been previewed at the 2016 Auto Expo for the first time and the model will be developed to target its sub-4metre range model, Mahindra KUV 100.
Suzuki has first introduced the crossover (Suzuki Ignis) in the Japanese market and now, Maruti Suzuki has scheduled the Ignis crossover for India. The small crossover will be sold via the Nexa outlets of the premium network in the Indian market along with the Baleno and S-Cross.
Some sources publicised that the Ignis launch will be postponed to 2017 due to the heavy demand of Vitara Brezza and Baleno models. The two models have contributed highest market share in the company’s total sales in the last months and received waiting period based on the regions and versions.
The Ignis to be received a new platform, which includes robust design, high ground clearance, projector headlamps and a premium view from all sides. The expected features of Ignis are rear bumper cladding, large split tail lamps, thick C-pillars, as well.
As of now, the Renault Kwid and Mahindra KUV 100 are the two products available in the small crossover segment. The Ignis will be the third product and measured the same length, lower width and greater height than the Renault Kwid.
Upcoming car, Maruti Ignis will offer with the existing range of engines or new ones as the largest carmaker has not revealed the technical details of Ignis. A rumour in the Indian automotive industry is the Ignis will get the 1.0-litre BoosterJet engine with the regular transmissions and the SHVS mild hybrid system.
